Most of the time your stills photography won’t get released until 12+ months after you took the pictures in the first place and by that time you’ve moved onto the next job so it can be easy to forget to check and share past work. Some productions are great and they put out loads of content that you can share and use in your portfolio (shout out to the AMAZING Outlander team over at Starz!). Why am I reminiscing about a job I worked on over 6 years ago? I happened to stumble across a poster I never knew existed!Įvery now and then it’s good to do a quick Google search to see what unit stills have surfaced from jobs.

So I cut my teeth on Billionaire Ransom – at the time of shooting called ‘Take Down,’ -and it was my first proper movie all to my self with proper producers, a proper director in the form of Jim Gillespie, and proper crew, some of whom, I have remained very good friends with to this day. There was that *one* movie I did around 2012 but we aren’t going to talk about that one it was a straight to DVD flop that involved a very shady producer who didn’t believe in paying his crew so as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t count. I was as green as a grasshopper back then, having only worked on bits and pieces here and there, or assisting some of the industry’s best still photographers.
Waaaay back in 2014 – though in all honesty, it feels a lot longer ago than that – I worked on one of my first ever serious feature films as the main unit stills photographer. Windfall is set to be released on March 18, 2022, on Netflix.Being a stills photographer, one thing you learn is that you often have no idea which images have been used for a production unless you track them down yourself, and though you might expect an advertising photographer to shoot the poster if you haven’t been offered the job yourself, sometimes it’s your unit stills that make it instead, like for my first ever movie poster for the film, Billionaire Ransom. He created the science fiction show Dispatches from Elsewhere for AMC but has been relatively quiet as of late. Since then, he has starred in acclaimed comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Five-Year Engagement, as well as darker fare like the David Foster Wallace biopic, The End of the Tour. Jason Segel is most famous for starring in the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, as well as being one of many stars (like Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Linda Cardellini) that had their careers launched by Paul Feig’s cult hit Freaks & Geeks. Hopefully, Netflix is not actually flying Jason Segel fans to an isolated orange grove as some kind of award bait.
However, it became the topic of controversy when it was reported that 30 Golden Globe voters had received preferential treatment in the form of a flight to Paris and sightseeing by Paramount, the studio behind Emily in Paris. While critics have been divided about The Devil Wears Prada-lite quality of the show, it was was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards in 2021. Lily Collins also has experience with Netflix, starring as the titular character in the popular streaming show Emily in Paris.
In 2021, he starred with Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst in the Jane Campion film The Power of the Dog, which currently has 12 Academy Award nominations (the most for its year).

Star Jesse Plemons first broke out as the nerdy vocalist of a Christian death metal band in small-town Texas in the acclaimed TV series Friday Night Lights and has since grown into an acclaimed character actor. While Walker hasn’t hit pop culture with quite the same impact since Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow (probably being the next most famous), he has been a reliable script doctor in Hollywood for years.
